On May 19, 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Head of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, who is in Tajikistan on an official visit.

During the talks, the sides discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation, regional security issues, the state and prospects of bilateral interaction, as well as preparations for the upcoming state visit of President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping to the Republic of Tajikistan. The ministers also exchanged views on topical regional and international issues, cooperation within the framework of international and regional organisations, in particular the UN, the SCO, as well as within the Central Asia + China format.

It was agreed at the meeting that the sides will further strengthen co-operation in political, economic and investment, transport, agricultural and healthcare spheres.

At the end, the Program of Cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and the People’s Republic of China for 2025-2026 was signed.
